Final ‘Stache Day

December 20, 2008

The Final 'Stache

And so it comes to an end!  ;)

We raised $1045! Thank you.

December 19, 2008

After a grueling 5 weeks of growing, the mustache came off on Wednesday.   Despite the many jokes that basically seemed to revolve around me being a 70s porn star, I kept my chin up.  And it paid off.  We raised $1045 and helped fund projects which supported 732 kids.  Absolutely incredible.  Thank you sooooo much for the support!

In all, over 5 weeks, Mustaches for Kids raised $309,077 from 5,799 donors and reached 172,618 students.  And San Francisco beat out New York and Charlotte as the top ‘growing’ city with total donations of $78,914.  Pretty incredible.

I know it’s a hard time for everyone out there, so I really appreciate your generosity.

I have a pic from the final day coming soon (technical problems).

DonorsChoose.org – Help teachers help their students!

December 10, 2008

If you haven’t given yet, here’s an ABC News report that might change your mind.  Teachers need help.  You can make a big difference.

I’m only growing the ’stache for 5 weeks.  Teachers are in the classroom spending their own money year round…

Watch: Helping Teachers When Budgets Fall Short, then make a $5 donation.  Thanks!

Day 28 – Bad Stache Day?

December 10, 2008
only one more week!

only one more week!

If women can have bad hair days, can men have bad ’stache days?  ;)

Please consider making a $5 donation.  Only 1 more week!  Thanks.

Getting Caught in the Wind

December 7, 2008

I ran three 5ks this past week.  Each one seemed harder to complete, especially with the wind getting caught up in my ’stache.

How did Prefontiane do it?

How did he run with such a 'stache?!?

How did he run with such a 'stache?!?

Skip one Venti Chai Latte this week and help out the kids.  $5 will go a long way.  Thanks!

Day 23 – What a ‘Stache!

December 5, 2008

Happy 'Stache!

I’ve finally come to terms with the ‘Stache.  I actually don’t think it looks that bad.

We’ve raised $560 so far.  Really want to get up to $1000.  Please consider skipping Starbucks tomorrow and donating $5 to help the kids.  Thanks!

I’m not alone…The Year of the Mustache!

December 4, 2008

Huffpo has a timely post saying it’s the year of the mustache.

Here are some of my fellow ’stachmates:

Eric Holder, David Axelrod, Brad Pitt, Ted Turner, Rep. Henry Waxman, and Thomas Friedman.

On the red carpet for The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button on Monday night, Brad Pitt, who was sporting some facial hair of his own, told the TV Show Extra that he’s trying to bring the mustache back: “That’s my goal. I don’t think ’staches are respected enough….It’s a political statement.”

Have you donated yet?  Skip the latte and give $5 for the kids.  Thanks!

Day 21 – Shave Day

December 2, 2008

Every Tuesday is Shave Day, so you get to see my mustache in all its glory!

Brian's Mustache

Isn't this worth a $5 donation? :)

Worst part is that I forgot my Mustaches for Kids pin this morning so I’ve been getting especially funny looks, along with kind comments like ‘nice caterpillar’.  Please make up for my humiliation by donating $5 today.  Thanks!

You’ve funded another project!

November 26, 2008

Another $85 in donations yesterday led to another project being fully funded.

Is It Ok To Make Mistakes? was for a set of dry erase boards for a preK – 2nd grade class.  As the teacher wrote:

The dry erase boards will help students not only with the math series we are using but will be able to use them in phonics too. A quick erase will help students feel like it is OK to make a mistake and learn from them.

20 more kids we’re helping.  Thanks!  This makes it all worth it!

4 great projects left on my list:

-It’s Time to Learn about Current Events — open their eyes to the amazing world we live in!

My students need 26 subscriptions to “Time for Kids” and 22 books about how the US government was created and how it functions today. They also need 26 file folders and 2 boxes of highlighters.

-Integrating Science and Children’s Literature (The Stars) — remember looking up at the stars with wonder?

My students need 15 copies of “Stargazers” by Gail Gibbons.  Just $139 bucks needed!

-Just Beat It Part 3 — for those music lovers out there!

My students need 12 more music stands so that everyone will be able to see the music when playing together as a group.

-Venture Into Vocabulary — could you imagine not having index cards to learn vocabulary?

My students need 108 packs of 100 colored index cards, 30 index card file boxes, and 30 sets of alphabetical index guides.

My ’stache is a bit itchy today…hopefully that’s a good sign!  Please consider donating $5 today.
